Marganell
The church is structurally consolidated and a transparent glass roof is proposed to allow the use of the covered interior space without altering the exterior image of the building.
The glass roof is placed about five meters high, at the point where all the walls are regular. It is formed by a metal structure formed by beams embedded in the original stone walls and a free-standing perimeter profile that also acts as a channel for rainwater. In the apse area, the metal profiles form a semi-circle, adapting to the curvature of the walls.
The proposal also contemplates reopening access to the bell tower via a metal staircase. The staircase reaches the highest part of the tower, where a viewpoint towards the mountain of Montserrat is created.
Historical-archaeological research conducted by Ainhoa Pancarbo, Roger Sala, Pedro Rodríguez, and Helena Ortiz-Quintana (Barcelona Provincial Council).
